On Friday 21 June the best of the best architectural projects from around the state will be unveiled at the Australian Institute of Architects’ 2013 Queensland Architecture Awards.
Following seven regional awards ranging from the far north to the south border, the ocean to the desert between March and May, 186 entries were reviewed by the regional juries resulting in 85 projects receiving a Regional Commendation and an opportunity to be recognised in the State Awards.
Eligible projects are vying for Named Awards, Architecture Awards and Commendations in commercial, enduring, heritage, interior, public, residential, small project, sustainable and urban design categories along with the COLORBOND® Award for Steel Architecture with Named Award and Architecture Award winners advancing to the National Architecture Awards to be held in Sydney on Thursday 7 November.
In addition, the Queensland Art & Architecture Prize, acknowledging the relationship between the two design disciplines, will be presented at the ceremony.
The 2013 state jury were led by Awards Jury Director Mark Damant, Principal at Woods Bagot and included Deputy Awards Jury Director Liam Proberts, Principal at bureau^proberts along with jurors Eloise Atkinson, Principal of Deicke Richards Architects and Paul Curran, Principal at PUSH Architects.
The celebratory dinner has been curated by Creative Director, KIRK (formerly Richard Kirk Architect) and will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from 7pm.
